Winter Ride Gives Youth a Lift to Mt. Baker
 
The Winter Ride Program is a multi-week chaperoned youth bus program for middle and high school aged participants. For over 50 years Mt. Baker has been proud to host this bus, lesson and rental program, providing our youth with access to the outdoors. Check it out!

Pacific Northwest Girls Collaborative Project: Project Splash Educator Training

January 23-27, 2012
This five-day training will introduce your organization to exciting new underwater LEGO™ robotics curriculum, exemplary practices in gender equity and engineering messaging, and strategies and tools for implementing a summer camp for high school girls. Project Splash educators will have access to online support and course management tools, curriculum and materials kits, and additional resource materials. After the training, your organization will receive guidance and support throughout the planning and implementation of your one-week robotics camp the following summer.

Contribute to the Review of Child Care Center Licensing Rules

In 2012, the Department of Early Learning (DEL) plans to start a thorough review of child care center licensing rules in Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 170-295. The last complete review of these rules was in 2003.
 
As a first step, DEL is asking for your input on the current WAC 170-295, including changes you think may be needed.    The deadline to give input is March 31, 2012.  Click this link to find out more, including ways to send your comments: http://www.del.wa.gov/laws/development/center.aspx.

Free Nutrition Programming from Pacific Science Center
The Youth and Family Programs Department at the Pacific Science Center is offering free 1 or 2 hour nutrition workshops to teen programs, childcare sites, family programs and more between now and the end of March 2012. The primary focus is to increase the overall health and wellbeing of King Country residents through education and empowerment.

Seattle Council and Mayor seeking eight qualified individuals for Families and Education Levy Oversight Committee

Approved by Seattle voters on November 8, the $232 million Levy will be effective from 2012 through 2018, providing funding for school readiness and early learning; academic achievement in elementary, middle and high schools; guidance and related support for college and career preparation; and student health services. Professional Grant Development Workshop

YSPP has developed a new curriculum called "Riding the Waves" that emphasizes skills for coping with stress and managing emotions. Youth Work Methods Training of Trainers- Vermont, November 2011

David P. Weikart's Center most intensive training prepares participants to lead the item-aligned workshops from the Youth Work Methods Series. The Methods TOT begins with 4 weeks of online coursework comparable to a college-level course. Participants should expect to spend 3-4 hours per week considering youth work and adult learning concepts and completing assignments. Participants then attend a 3-day residential intensive workshop. The TOT culminates in a final online week. Participants receive a thick guidebook with training agendas for all the item-aligned workshops. Click here for more information.
