Children's Action Network
School’s Out Washington utilizes the Washington Afterschool Network (WAN) as its primary vehicle in mobilizing others to take action. To accomplish this task, SOWA has partnered with the Children’s Alliance to create an email action alert system which we call the Children's Action Network (CAN). This network system allows our 2000+ members to take immediate action on state and national issues in 5 minutes or less. This is an effective way to influence decision-makers in a very efficient way and ensures that more voices are heard when leaders are making key decisions.
What does joining CAN mean?
- You will receive requests for action when issues affect children and youth in Washington State
- Elected officials are contacted based on your zip code
- Information will include key points and enough background information for each person to take action in 5 minutes or less
- Pre-written letters are included for your use
- You will receive immediate acknowledgement of action you take, creating a continuous feedback loop for WAN
