Workshops

School's Out Washington offers professional development workshops on a regular basis for afterschool and youth development (AYD) professionals working at programs serving children and youth in grades K-12. Workshop topics are developed in response to suggestions from trainers, schools, families and the AYD community.

SOWA understands the differing needs that arise from the various service structures and communities supporting children and youth from elementary through high school. We offer workshops addressing specific developmental stages as well as topics that cross the age-range continuum.

Workshops bring together AYD professionals from many different types of programs in a variety of communities and provide the opportunity for staff to share new ideas and new approaches. This in turn keeps programs exciting and rewarding for children, youth and staff. The more knowledge and skills staff have, the better able they are to create enriching experiences for young people and respond to their different needs. We contract with a variety of knowledgable and highly skilled trainers and coaches, as well as draw upon the expert trainers on our staff, in order to offer engaging, informative workshops designed to appeal to a range of learning styles.

Please be sure to sign up early for workshops, as they can fill quickly. All of our offerings are STARS/MERIT-approved for school-age programs licensed through the state's Department of Early Learning. We prefer that you pay in advance, but understand if this is not possible.
