STARS 20 Hour Training
Washington STARS/MERIT requires all licensed family child care providers and licensed child care center school-age directors, program supervisors, site coordinators and lead teachers to complete professional development trainings each year. For newly-hired child care providers in these categories, a 20-hour basic training is required in the first six months of licensing or hire date.
School's Out Washington regularly offers STARS 20 Hour Basic Training focused on school-age children (ages 5-12). All 10 modules of STARS basic information are covered. Most of the first class focus is a test out/homework assignment process for the first seven modules. The second Saturday is focused on modules 8-10 using workshop format activities. This is a two day class and you must attend both sessions to get credit and recieve your certificate of completion.
