School-Age Regulations Re-Write Group Resources
All of the recommendations for revising the school-age licensing regulations must be based on research. This webpage lists some of the principal resources available to the small groups working on the recommendations and will be updated regularly.
As of September 2008, the Council on Accreditation became the accrediting agency for school-age child care programs. Formerly, the National Afterschool Association ran the accreditation program. COA's practice standards are an excellent resource for revising the licensing regulations. Also note the reference list which provides the research used in developing the standards.
The National Resource Center for Health and Safety in Child Care and Early Education produces a set of guidelines in Caring for our Children which is available to download on their website.
