Bridge Conference 2010

The 2010 Bridge from School to Afterschool and Back Conference was a huge success!  Thank you to all who attended - we are so fortunate to have such a powerful, inspired, and inspiring group of people working on behalf of children, youth, families and communities.  Check out some of the highlights from our conference here.

School’s Out Washington (SOWA) and our supporters hope that all of you who participated at our 2010 Bridge Conference this past October truly benefited from the experience. We wholeheartedly embraced the risks and opportunities that went into crafting this year’s two days.

We all bring multiple perspectives, often toward a common purpose. Yet there is clearly no consensus as to the best means to support the future “success” of our youth. SOWA’s Bridge Conference has provided a forum for the past eight years to explore the questions of how and why parallel, yet different, efforts are underway to support youth and to build a true sense of community.

SOWA has been committed for over twenty three years to providing services and guidance toward building strong and meaningful relationships between education and community leaders working both in and out of school. From our twenty plus year history, we also understand how to leverage these healthy relationships to foster effective partnerships at the systems level with the end goal of ensuring opportunities for all youth to find their sense of purpose and thrive as global citizens.

The purpose of our annual Bridge Conference has always been to identify and bring nationally renowned researchers, education specialists, policy-makers and other highly qualified professionals with a wide array of expertise to come and present on needs specific to youth’s success in school and in life.
