HB 2317/SB6336: Sponsored by Representative Haigh and its Senate companion bill sponsored by Senator Dammeier.

This legislation would provide competitive summer learning grants to partnerships between schools and community based organizations to design and deliver innovative, enrichment programs to prevent summer learning loss among target student populations. The legislation would also provide capacity to support an expanded learning opportunities system for the state to ensure delivery of high-quality services and to support implementation of the grant program.

SB 6209: Sponsored by Senator Dammeier.

This legislation would support Expanded Learning Opportunities as a strategy to close the widening opportunity gap by creating an Expanded Learning Opportunities Council to advise the Governor, the state Legislature and the Superintendent of Public Instruction regarding an expanded learning opportunities system.
