Meet Michal Crkon, Data and Scheduling Administrator!

by School's Out Washington |

Michal joined School’s Out Washington in April 2018 as the Data and Scheduling Administrator, though he was not totally new to SOWA having worked with us as an intern to support the Bridge Conference. Get to know Michal who will be a part of our very busy Statewide Program Quality team.

Where are you from?
I was originally born in Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia, but moved to Seattle when I was four years old, spent a year in Atlanta, before moving back to Seattle and have lived here since.

What do you like to do in your down time?
In my down time I usually like to spend time cycling in and around the Seattle area, and ideally plan to start taking part in local races. When not on my bike I like to read books, preferably while lounging outside, going to the gym, or exploring the outdoors. Other than this I like to spend time with close friends and family.

What brought you to SOWA?
I was originally introduced to SOWA during college when I interned here helping out with the Bridge conference, and after a couple of years working in a an environment where I felt I was wasting my time on something that doesn’t truly matter or make a difference, I jumped at the chance to come back and rejoin this group and help in the work they do in the community.

Tell us one thing you are proud of.
One thing I pride myself on in recent times is a new passion for exploration and learning that I’ve rediscovered. It’s what led me to read as much as I can and try new projects and experiences to know as much as I can about a wide array of topics, just for my own personal benefit. After a moment of getting very introverted and not taking an interest in new things, I’ve made an active effort to let my curiosity take over and dabble in as much as I can.
