You Helped Save Afterschool Programs: Now Tell Congress!
Thank you for your continuous efforts in supporting the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program. With strong advocacy from afterschool and summer program supporters like you, the House of Representatives passed an amendment with bipartisan support that reinstated the program into the FY 2018 budget.
Here in Washington, a majority of our Congressional delegation showed their support for this critical program with 8 out of 10 members voting yes on the amendment!
Although the budget process is not officially over, this is a huge win for children and youth across our state and country who rely on expanded learning opportunities offered afterschool and in the summer to keep them learning, engaged, and supported throughout the day and year.
Please take a moment to reach out to your Representative. Our convenient form will help you send the correct message to your member of Congress. If you live in one of the eight 'yes vote' districts you'll be saying thank you. If your member of Congress voted no (Rep. McMorris Rodgers and Rep. Newhouse) you'll get a different message to send that asks them to join the majority of Congress and support expanded learning opportunities by keeping the 21st CCLC program intact and well-funded.
Thank you again for supporting 21st CCLC and standing up for kids. Stay tuned for future actions on 21st CCLC.
