Draw it Out (Seattle, May 12)
At any given time, 1 in 5 children is suffering from loss or difficult transition within the family. Without intervention, children who endure these hardships are likely to struggle in the future with issues of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and other significant behavioral concerns.
This interactive arts-based workshop provides youth workers with useful, creative tools for engaging with children coping with loss, grief, or difficult transitions. Participants will work with Draw It Out, a therapeutic activity book for school-aged children, and will learn best practices for its use, as well as best practices for utilizing creative expression as a healing modality. Training includes one copy of Draw It Out and one Draw It Out Leader’s Companion.
- Learn about the theory, structure, and flow behind Draw It Out and the Draw It Out Leader’s Companion, a curriculum designed to support turnkey, customizable programmatic use.
- Gain hands-on experience in a variety of media, and learn tips and tricks for increasing confidence with basic art skills.
- Feel prepared to run creative expression programs with youth experiencing loss or tough transitions.
