FORWARD CS Project Training Day (Vancouver WA, May 23)

This problem based learning (PBL) training will empower afterschool educators and providers to feel comfortable with Computer Science facilitation by scaffolding problem solving with technology processes, using progressively challenging equipment and activities. Featured equipment will include Sphero SPRK+, littleBits, Cubelets, MOSS, and Arduino micro-controllers and Raspberry Pi computers. This is a hands-on, learn by doing workshop, featuring curriculum developed in a high-quality 21st CCLC program and presented by middle school youth. Attendees will leave with a fully developed PBL STEM Program (including a multitude of curricular resources like lesson plans, activities, supplies lists, etc.).

Objectives

Participants will:

  • Increase their capacity with computer science facilitation.
  • Use progressively challenging equipment and activities in problem based learning scenario.
  • Leave with a fully developed PBL STEM Program.
