Unraveling the Mysteries of Money with Youth (Seattle, April 6)
Financial decisions, no matter how well intended, are never made in a vacuum. Many things influence both our short- and long-term financial decisions. It’s often difficult for youth to open up about money, but taking the time to really understand and connect with youths’ cultural and emotional values and needs around money will build empathy, making you more successful in helping youth build financial literacy.
This professional development workshop focuses on two influences on financial decision-making: emotions and culture, and introduces financial literacy curriculum to help move youth and their families towards financial capability.
After completing this professional development workshop, participants should be able to:
- Discover youths’ cultural and emotional context
- Recognize emotional and cultural influences on youth
- Help youth to bridge cultural and emotional roadblocks
- Effectively utilize and implement financial literacy classes
